Sweet Dreams was the winning title out of 99 entries of this original acrylic on canvas. Often, I have a hard time naming my new art. So, this time I decided to create a contest and offer an 18” x 28” gallery wrap canvas print giclée free, for the person who came up with what I thought to be the best title. That’s how “Sweet Dreams” got its name!
Sedona’s Cathedral Rock
In the past coming up with a name of a particular painting of a place is easy, like “Sedona’s Cathedral Rock.” But since I’ve painted “Cathedral Rock.” in 6 different ways, it was a challenge to name the other five styles like Cathedral Magic, Sedona’s 1st Light, Fire in the Sky, Church House Rock, & Creekside Cathedral.
While hiking along Bell Rock pathway is when I came upon this view of Courthouse Butte, which located in the village of Oak Creek, Sedona, is the reference I used to create “Sweet Dreams” in the style of what I call, “Abstracting the landscape.” Living here in Sedona, I’m never at a loss for reference as to what I’ll create next.
