I later learned that he chose my art piece, Sky of Grace, because of the order of colors. The foreground of this original painting is focused on the color green, represented in the lush grasses. In Chinese cultural beliefs, green represents Life. Moving further into the painting, you see a variety of shades of blue water which represents Abundance and Fortune. Beyond the water are sienna-colored mountains depicting the solid, grounding Support of the Earth. The blue sky is the Presence of the Universe, and finally, the bright yellow sun and its reflection in the water represents the Buddha Light – the Spiritual Awakening of Humanity. Who knew?
This time the title Sky of Grace came to me in a daydream. Other times I delight-in asking my sweetheart what she would name it and when that doesn’t work, I meditate on it. When bringing landscape wall art to life, I often marvel at how easy it is for me to let my energy flow, and flow it did! That’s when I decided to use oil rather than acrylic. Emotion and movement in an upward fashion were what I was thinking when creating this wall art decor. I believe the reflection shows that.
The reference I used for Sky of Grace is “Willow Lake” in Prescott, AZ, which is home to the World’s oldest rodeo. July 4, 1888, became the birthday of professional rodeo when a group of Prescott, Arizona, merchants and professional businessmen organized the first formalized “cowboy tournament” and offered cash prizes. In this crazy world, a cowboy named Juan Leivas walked off with rodeo’s first professional title and documented in the subsequent edition of the Arizona Journal-Miner. These “Cowboy Contests” continued and were planned, promoted and carried out by a committee of local merchants.
