Sedona’s Seven Sacred Pools
Sedona’s Seven Sacred Pools is just one of 30 different landscape paintings of this magical place called Sedona, 12 of them in my latest style. I call vivid, mystical landscapes.
Inspiration
My inspiration comes to me from the many hikes I take here in this magical place that I call home. I’m confident that I’ll never run out of beautiful scenes to paint here in the red rocks. They keep me inspired and leave me breathless whenever I spend time on the land.
Creative process
It may appear that creativity comes to me quickly; however, it does not. In this particular painting, I painted out and created four different versions before I was happy with the results.
Critique
My mentor, Claudia Hartley, told me when I asked her to critique this painting that it was the best one that I’ve done. While that pleased my ego, I was not convinced that it was complete. I felt that something was missing, but what? Then it hit me…add some yellow to the midground where the green abstract forms are and suddenly, it all came together. After I did that, I instinctively knew I was done!
Explore
Not far from Sedona’s Sacred Pools is the Devils Kitchen sinkhole, just one of seven sinkholes in the Sedona area. If you Google “Seven Sacred Pools,” this also appears, The Seven Sacred Pools of Oheo Gulch, Maui.
