Church House Rock – Inspired by Van Gogh
Church House Rock, a Sedona Landscape Vortex, was inspired by Van Gogh’s later works. Being a Sedona artist I love creating magical abstract mural wall art desert landscapes in an acrylic medium. The sky that you see here was done using both hands simultaneously. This technique was taught to me in a workshop with artist/teacher Bonnie Hartenstein here in Sedona, AZ, that I learned this method.
Discover Loving Vincent is a 2017 biographical animated drama film about the life of painter Vincent van Gogh, and in particular, the circumstances of his death. It is the first fully painted animated feature film. It is written and directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman. The development funded by the Polish Film Institute, and partially through a Kickstarter campaign. Each of the film’s 65,000 frames is an oil painting on canvas. Using the same technique as Van Gogh, created by a team of 115 painters. The film premiered at the 2017 Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
Church House Rock – Endless Confusion
Cathedral Rock which is a magical vortex was called “Court House Rock” on some early maps, and Courthouse Butte was called “Church House Rock.” This has caused endless confusion ever since. Unwittingly this mistake was made about 1984 ago by a cartographer; I’m grateful and delight-in to have crafted this desert image of another Sedona landscape painting wall art offered as a Sedona canvas print with prickly pear cactus. When you gaze at this desert landscape it almost appears as a daydream, doesn’t it?
Other Adaptations of this whimsical Southwest Sedona Landscape
“Cathedral Magic,” “Cathedral Rock,” and “Fire in the Sky” are another versions of this Vortex iconic formation known as Cathedral Rock. “Creekside Cathedral” which is the one that Warner Bros. licensed from me to use in their new media series “Snatchers.“ is a horror comedy series about high schooler Sara, who wakes up pregnant…with an alien baby. Now she’ll have to team up with her ex-best friend Hayley to fight the extraterrestrial threat and save the world.
Cathedral Rock is the #1 destination location for Sedona Weddings. With that being said, Red Rock Crossing with the Oak Creek in the background is absolutely breathtaking. In fact, out of ALL the locations in this magical place, we call Sedona. This was where I personally was married!
